Lawrence M. Adelman, Principal

Larry co-founded AEG Partners in 2000 to focus on advisory and restructuring services for under-performing and distressed companies.  Building on his 25-year plus track record in the field, Larry has an extensive background working on both the operational and financial issues facing troubled firms, often serving in the role of chief restructuring officer or financial advisor.  He specializes in dealing with complex and difficult situations providing advice to boards of directors, private equity firms and lenders.

Larry has worked in a wide array of industries, with experience in the contracting services, direct marketing, distribution, furniture (retail and manufacturing), healthcare, grocery, manufacturing, mining, printing, retail, steel, telecom, and temporary staffing industries.  He also has extensive experience in consumer products and their channels of distribution.  Recent engagements include:

Recent AEG engagements include:

  • Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) for a $350 million revenue telecom services provider. Larry led the preparation of a Chapter 11 filing, restructured the operations during the bankruptcy period, and successfully developed and implemented a reorganization plan resulting in the company’s return to profitability.

  • Financial Advisor to the board of directors of a national art supplies retailer that sells through a catalog, the Internet and retail stores. Larry led the strategic reorganization of this business, including developing new senior leadership, reconfiguring the board of directors and advising the company on strategic acquisitions. Today the company is the market leader in its industry.

  • Post-Confirmation Board Director of the bankruptcy estate of a major international airline. Larry participated in the resolution of over $6 billion in both domestic and foreign outstanding claims resulting from the airline’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy and the distribution of over $520 million to claimants.

  • Advisor to Senior Lenders in the commercial printing business. Larry led the assessment of the company’s management and business plan, as well as the successful restructuring of the company’s debt.

Prior to AEG, Larry headed a restructuring advisory firm, Alliance Capital Group, focused on providing turnaround and advisory services to distressed businesses.
