Mike Goldsmith co-founded AEG Partners in 2000 and is well known as a leading investment strategist specializing in general management and the turnaround of distressed investments. Mr. Goldsmith has an extensive background negotiating consensual restructurings as well as the management of distressed loan portfolios.
Mr. Goldsmith’s experience also includes: Group President of Heller Financial Real Estate Finance, a leading top provider of capital to private real estate owners/operators in the U.S. and included under leadership: Heller’s distressed debt acquisition and finance group. Mr. Goldsmith headed Heller’s Workout Group, managing a staff of 50 covering a $1.2 billion portfolio of under-performing corporate financings, including leveraged buyouts, acquisitions, and recapitalization financing. He developed successful exit strategies for discontinued operations including consumer finance, asset based finance, media, and European venture capital.
Prior to Heller, Mr. Goldsmith was a Vice President and Division Manager with Bank of America, where he was responsible for the workout of a $750 million corporate loan and distressed securities portfolio.
Mr. Goldsmith currently serves as a director of Fosbel Inc. and Republic Financial Corporation and has been an active member and speaker of the Turnaround Management Association, Urban Land Institute and the Association for Corporate Growth.
