AEG Expands Restructuring Practice with the Addition of Phillip Van Winkle and Jonathan Morrison as Managing Directors

07/31/2013
AEG Partners, a leading restructuring, advisory and turnaround management firm, announced the expansion of its restructuring practice with the recent additions of Phillip Van Winkle and Jonathan Morrison as Managing Directors.  Both will be based in Chicago and will focus on leading client engagements as well as business development activities.

“We are extremely pleased to have Phil and Jon join the AEG team,” said Craig Dean, Principal.  “Each brings an extensive background in strategic and financial restructuring.  I know our clients will benefit from their ability to deliver positive results across a wide range of underperforming situations.”

Phillip Van Winkle has over 20 years of experience advising and investing in highly leveraged, stressed and distressed companies.  Phil has significant experience advising debtors, senior secured lenders as well as unsecured creditor committees, and has worked on a wide range of assignments from small middle market companies to large multi-national corporations.  Additionally, he has served on corporate boards and in fiduciary trustee positions.  As an advisor, Phil has implemented complex financings, stakeholder negotiations, bankruptcy reorganizations, 363 asset sales, operational restructurings and liquidations.  Prior to joining AEG, he was a Managing Director at the Macquarie Group, Giuliani Capital Advisors and Ernst & Young Corporate Finance.  He was also a Partner at Harmony Holding, an investment management and operating company.  Earlier in his career, Phil spent ten years with Bank of America and was a consultant at McKinsey & Company.

Jonathan Morrison brings over 15 years of restructuring advisory, investment banking and investing experience across various industries.  As an advisor, Jon has managed a broad range of engagements in the U.S. and internationally including corporate restructuring for debtors as well as creditors, capital raising and merger and acquisition engagements for distressed companies.  Prior to joining AEG Partners, Jon was a Managing Director at Harmony Holding.  He was also an Associate Director with Macquarie Corporate and Asset Finance where he was responsible for sourcing and underwriting fixed income investments.  Previously, he was a Director with Giuliani Capital Advisors and its predecessor, Ernst & Young Corporate Finance, where he led teams that advised and assisted distressed middle-market and large corporate clients with strategic planning, cash management and corporate finance solutions.

“AEG continues to believe that senior, seasoned resources are important to companies undergoing difficult challenges,” added Larry Adelman, Principal, “The addition of Phil and Jon reinforces our commitment to that strategy.”
